Reconstructive surgery

"We restore and make whole those parts that nature had given and ill-fortune have taken away, not only to please the eye but to buoy up the spirits of the afflicted." - Gasparo Tagliacozzi, 1597

Reconstructive surgery is restoring form and function after loss through Trauma, Cancer or when a child is born with a congenital abnormality or defect. It is by far the more rewarding and challenging side to Plastic Surgery. IT puts to use the artistry and surgical science bestowed upon us by training and experience to help patients rebuild their lives.

There are many aspects to Reconstructive Surgery from head to toe, all of which require specific and intricate training. The Advanced Training program in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery governed by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) in conjunction with the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) covers all aspects of Reconstructive Surgery in it’s curriculum. Dr Raja Sawhney has completed this training program and gained his Fellowship – FRACS (Plast).

He offers most aspects of Reconstructive Surgery:

  • BREAST RECONSTRUCTION
  • HAND SURGERY
  • HEAD & NECK RECONSTRUCTION
  • SKIN CANCER
  • LOWER LIMB RECONSTRUCTION
  • BURNS

Dr Raja Sawhney is the Clinical Director of the Dept of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Gold Coast & Robina Hospitals where he performs a large workload of Reconstructive Surgery including all the above.
